The Night Vision Devices For Hunting

 How They Work

Active infrared night vision devices: Use infrared light sources (like infrared lasers or infrared lamps) to shine on targets. Then, infrared receivers (like infrared cameras or glasses) pick up the reflected infrared light. It is then converted into visible images.

Low-light night vision devices: Use an image intensifier. It amplifies weak light in the environment (such as moonlight, starlight, or city light pollution) thousands or even tens of thousands of times. This lets human eyes see clear images.

Thermal imagers: Use thermal cameras to convert the infrared heat radiation from targets into visible images. They detect targets based on temperature differences or heat radiation differences between the target and its background, or parts of the target.

 

Types of Products

Monocular night vision devices: Light and easy to carry. Usually, they can be operated with one hand, suitable for long-time hand-held observation. The price is relatively low.

Binocular night vision devices: You observe with both eyes. They provide better sense of depth and 3D perception. The images are closer to the natural vision of human eyes. They cause less fatigue during long use, but are larger, heavier, and more expensive.

Head-mounted night vision devices: Can be fixed on the head, freeing your hands. This makes it easy to do other things while hunting, like climbing or shooting. They have a wider field of view, but may be less stable than monocular or binocular ones.

 

Key Parameters

Resolution: Determines how clear the night vision image is. It is usually measured in line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm) or pixels. Higher resolution means clearer images. You can see farther targets and smaller details.

Magnification: Affects how far and detailed you can observe targets. But too high magnification may reduce image stability and narrow the field of view. Most hunting night vision devices have a magnification of 2-10 times.

Field of view: The angle range you can see horizontally and vertically. A larger field of view means you can see a wider area, but magnification may be lower.

Detection distance: The maximum distance a night vision device can effectively detect targets. It is affected by resolution, magnification, ambient light, and other factors.

Response time (for thermal imagers): The time between detecting a target’s heat signal and displaying the image. A shorter response time means you can catch dynamic changes of targets more quickly.

 

Tips for Selection and Use

Choose based on hunting environment: In dense vegetation like forests, thermal imagers may be better. They can see through leaves to find targets. In open grasslands or deserts, low-light or active infrared night vision devices can work well.

Choose based on budget: Generally, thermal imagers are more expensive, followed by low-light ones. Active infrared ones are relatively cheaper. Choose according to your financial ability.

Pay attention to concealment: Night vision devices help you observe prey at night, but you must hide yourself to avoid being found by prey.

Use legally: When using night vision devices for hunting, follow local laws and regulations to ensure legal hunting.
