The 2021 China International Import Expo (CIIE) was not only a grand event for trade and innovation but also a showcase of advanced security measures. As a participant in providing drone defense solutions, our company played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the event. We were proud to contribute our state – of – the – art radio spectrum detection equipment, which was a key component in safeguarding the airspace from unauthorized drone intrusions.

The Growing Need for Drone Defense
In recent years, the proliferation of drones has brought both convenience and challenges. While drones has exerted unique advantages in various industries such as photography, delivery, and agriculture, they also pose potential risks. At large – scale events like the CIIE, with a high concentration of people, valuable exhibits, and important figures, the threat of unauthorized drones is significant. These drones can also work for  surveillance, smuggling, or even as a tool for disruption. As a result, effective drone defense systems are essential to maintain security and order.

Our radio spectrum detection equipment stands out for its remarkable single – unit functionality. Each device can independently carry out the entire process of drone detection, identification, and early warning. This means that without the need for complex integration with multiple other devices, our equipment can quickly and accurately sense the presence of drones in the surrounding airspace.

Detection Mechanism
Using advanced radio frequency (RF) technology, our equipment constantly scans the airwaves. Drones communicate with their operators through RF signals, and our detectors are highly sensitive to these specific frequencies. Once a drone – related RF signal is detected, the equipment immediately starts analyzing its characteristics. It can distinguish between different types of drones based on the unique signal patterns they emit. For example, consumer – grade drones may have different communication frequencies and modulation techniques compared to industrial – use drones. Our equipment can tell them apart, providing detailed information about the potential threat.

Identification and Classification
Not only can our equipment detect drones, but it also has the ability to identify and classify them. By analyzing the RF signals in depth, it can match the detected signals against a pre – loaded database of known drone models and manufacturers. This enables us to not only know that a drone is present but also what kind of drone it is. For instance, if a DJI Phantom drone is detected, our equipment can quickly identify it. This information is crucial for security personnel as different types of drones may have different capabilities and potential risks associated with them.

Early Warning Function
The early warning function of our radio spectrum detection equipment is a game – changer. As soon as a drone is detected and identified, the system immediately sends out an alert. This alert reach security personnel in multiple ways, such as through mobile apps, email notifications, or direct integration with the event’s security command center. The early warning gives security teams sufficient time to respond, whether it’s to track the drone’s movement, prepare counter – measures, or investigate the source of the unauthorized flight.

Integration into the Overall Drone Defense Solution
At the 2021 CIIE, our radio spectrum detection equipment was part of a comprehensive drone defense solution. While our equipment was highly effective on its own, it was also integrated with other detection and counter – measure technologies. For example, it worked in tandem with radar systems. Radar can provide a broad – scale view of the airspace, detecting larger objects and providing general location information. Our radio spectrum detection equipment, on the other hand, could zero in on the specific RF signals of drones, even in areas where radar might have limitations, such as in urban environments with a lot of electromagnetic interference.
In addition, our equipment’s data was fed into a central control system. This system aggregated data from all the different detection technologies and provided a unified picture of the airspace situation. Security personnel could then make more informed decisions based on this comprehensive data. They could see not only where the drones were but also what types they were, allowing for a more targeted and effective response.

The ability of our single – unit equipment to detect, identify, and provide early warnings for drones proved to be a valuable asset.
